You hit a home run this is a great web site of Standard Breed Poultry. I see his Barred Rock large fowl his females look so nice and even in type and color. I love his Rouen ducks and the China goose has style.

This is Chris Madelaina of Calif I think. He is a great poultryman and judge.

If you get birds from him you are getting the cream of the crop stock of the west coast in these breeds.

Also, if you get stock from him you are getting a mentor who will help you and teach you the secrets of raiseing Standar Breed Fowl. This is more important than just getting eggs from some buddy. What are you going to do with them next year and the next. Most people go backwards and then out of Poutlry. Thanks for finding this nice web site. bob

A speical bonus he sells eggs. wow.

Has anyone ever ordered any of the Rosecomb Rhode Island Whites from Purely Poultry? If so, were they true to the SOP, I know probably not not 100% in every hatch but wondering if they were good stock.

I found thier site and the picture of the male in thier spot on R I Whites he is a pretty good bird. Would score him maybe 90 out of a 100. Rember these birds are not anything you would hope to see like a good standard brick shape R I Red Large fowl. I think I would give them a shot. They look pretty good. I am a died in the wool Rhode Island Red breeder and I have never seen a R I White. They never ever got off the ground in the old days and faded down the old how hum path of birds that just did not have it. There is a lady in Washington State that has some pretty nice birds and this male looks like he is trying to be a brick shape fellow.

I thought about crossing a flat back White Rock Large fowl male to a White Wyandotte female. Then start a new strain with these birds. Two years ago I gave a friend a flat back white rock male and he crossed them onto some Murry McMurry White Wyandotte production chickens. He got a female that had a rose comb and a flat top line. I guess she was the best R I White I ever saw. I dont know if she is still around I had to get this male and breed him to my old white rock large fowl strain. bob

Kathy I see your post about waiting till feb. I would love to have a dozen of his rouen and alysburry duck eggs.

I wont have chicken eggs to ship till middle of jan and feb. I only hatch down here in march and april to keep the size down. Its hard to ship Standard Breed Large fowl out in Dec and Jan.. bob

Thanks for the reply Robert Blosl.

I'm interested in the Whites as well as the RC Reds. I probably will not be getting any this coming spring, because I have some coop issues that I need to take care of first, but maybe by the end of next year the beginning of 2012 I can try to find some to purchase.
And thanks for the info about breeding White Rocks to White Wyandottes, is this a true mating to get Rhode Island Whites?

Scott, don't tempt me!

I am already chewing my nails over where I am going to put more coops.

Hatcheries will sometimes use pictures of birds that do NOT represent their stock, I would try to find someone who actually got some of those whites and see what they say.

First offered to the public in 1903, RI Whites were admitted to the APA Standard in 1922. They carry the blood of Partridge Cochins, White Wyandottes and Rose Comb White Leghorns. The Whites should have the same distinctive horizontal oblong body carriage as the RI Reds. These fowl occur in both single and rose comb varieties.
