I want a pair of those! Then when I decide I want to order more chicks or eggs, the wife will have to approve... otherwise I'll tell her I'm getting more GaDong Taos... she's agree to ANYTHING to keep that from happening!

They are ugly as a night in a Mississippi jail, but so weird that I do sorta like 'em.

Terry, Do you think they are "heritage?"

I could certainly see these things on an endangered list ..... YUK, I would think not many would keep the ugly things.

But, then again, there are weird people out there, like Walt and you.

Yeah I'm weird.. but you know it would work Kathy... I could have bought your whole flock and Terra would think that was just peachy to keep me from gettin' those.... uhhh "Visably challenged" chickens.

I am glad people raise them. Really, I am ...... cuz I just couldn't. Those things are just butt-ugly to me.

I wouldn't have room to house every male, either.
I applaud all you who raise them, breed them, and love them!

In that case I'm guessing you won't like this couple. (there is nothing wrong with them, GaDong Tao are supposed to look like this).

You know you want some................

Birds look as if suffering from elephantitis. Mutation that was fixed within this breed seems to be more debilitating than many mutations fixed in most other breeds. Are they infected with some of fungus?

Very nice birds saladin and Walt.

I like the GaDong. They remind me of my granpa and gramma they lived to be 98 and 102. Will be looking for some info on them via google. They are nice.
Granpa always told me variety was the spice of life and those birds look hot. They would be some real head turners. Thanks for the pics both of you.

Good luck with the birds

No, they are not mine. I'm sure they have EE in them somewhere though cuz everyboidy puts EE into everything.......

Here is a better picture of the legs. This is the result of good breeding.....no scaley leg or artificial substances injected. There are other oriental breeds that have "scales" on their legs. I am just now learning about the exotic orientals so I can't answer many questions.

That is truly disgusting.

But I will also chip in - GaDong Tao are indeed naturally like that and a very old, rare breed. Certainly not to get confused with Asils though. Their scaly legs do indeed carry on to other breeds though. Breeds like Ga Noi and the related also have very nice, heavily "armored" type scaling on their legs.

LOL on the Easter Egger comment.
