You'll be disappointed to know that science and art have figured out that the whole left/right brain notion is false. One of my senior level classes in Art Theory and Philosophy dealt with this in a rather boring way; we were shown brain scans etc and shown how there are parts of the brain which deal with imagined images and recalled images as well as perception. They were located centrally and there abouts, not at all on one side or another. Its just more fun to separate out people based on the idea of left/right. Sorry Mr. Bob. There is evidence that people learn differently though, visual, global, auditory etc. I might posit the idea that those people who are truly global or in the least visual/sensory or tactile make the best renderings. I agree with you about the paintings you posted. They were very nice.

Fairs sometimes have production classes for the egg laying or meat producing Hybrids. I've even judged some that did costume classes & have heard of "people's choice" awards where visitors vote on the bird that appeals to them the most regardless of breed standard.
Open, sanctioned shows really aren't for those purposes, they're for the contionuation of breed standard exhibition. I doubt you'll see the APA or ABA adding Henny Penny classes to their show rules. At least I hope they don't.

I have attended a large fair here that allowed for people's choice. I didn't understand the point of it at all. I don't think shows that are about standards are the same as those judging ugliness or costumes but I asked because maybe Henny Penny people could be redirected to such events in the future. It would be easier on them and on SOP judges. The egg idea always appeals to me. I am often disappointed in what is shown under the Ameraucana name as well.

I now have a pair of BR. It was an accident, I swear. I made a bid at a bird club auction that ended up as the only bid. I'll get some pics soon-- snowing since yesterday here so I am hunkering down and don't dare let the Delaware cockerel out as he might be invisible. These BR came from a judge and breeder here. I asked after Dominiques but apparently they are few and far between-- that darn single comb issue again.

I think Mr Walt mentioned Nankins a while back. I met a major breeder and conservateur of them this weekend: Mr Bob Hawes. It was nice to talk to him.

One of the smallest fairs I judge each year has a 'biggest chicken' class that is simply sticking them on a scale, regardless of ANYTHING else they look like. This is not a market meat class just biggest bird. This goes along with their production hen class too. They tell me they are contemplating adding a new class called 'most interesting looking chicken' class. That could be "interesting" haha

The assumption was the people with certain personalities or abilities used one lobe predominantly. Not so. When it comes to vision and visual recollection or re/creation and even perception the same areas of the brain are used in right and left handed people. The lobe differential just didn't stand up to science. It was one of the most boring parts of my class... so of course it stuck, even years later.

Thank you, Zanna, what a kind thing to say. I cannot take credit for her. She was bred and raised by a wise breeder in Montana, Walt Boese, whom I met when I had Marans, several years ago.
Symmetry is way high on any breeding list for me. "May" just fills the eye for me. I am so excited to start with such quality. Now I need to make sure I keep it. That's the scary part.

Walt sold them to me. I get to keep them. He has more at his place, Junior's sire is doing very well for Walt. We both share the vision to never cross this pure Engish strain to any other strain.(except maybe a pure English Canadian strain we found out about.) But that is way in the future. For now, this Spring we will breed Junior to his 1/2 sisters (thru the dam) .

The studies demonstrated that the left and right hemispheres are specialized in different tasks. The left side of the brain is normally specialized in taking care of the analytical and verbal tasks. Based on your comments we need to have the Nobel Peace Prize Committee get Dr. Perrys award and his money back to their origination. I also wonder when I take care of Stroke patients in the nursing home why some can talk and some cant ? Does it depend what side of the brain was affected or the side of the body? I will look into this. I meet a Retired Dr. who was a Pediatric Investigative Pathologist who use to cut up little kids after they died to see what caused them to have this or that with their disease. that killed them.

It is also funny on the motivation speakers like Brian Tracy, Dr. DeWayne Dyer and Zig Zigler who talked about this in their sales presentations years ago on how to get people to say yes to buy a product or let you make a appointment to get into their house to try to sell a product. We used this information to talk to Auditorys and Visual but I guess it was all voodo thinging.

So it looks like any buddy can be a master breeder if they want to I guess the art and science factor is all bogus.

Next thing I will find out is their is no Santa Clasue. Bummer.
