'I hate to burst your bubble' is a normal southern phrase that is used when bad news is given.
No emotion one way or the other should be read into it.
Well, no hard feelings, but it sounded snotty.

But I don't think he has a split comb.

Chloe - note that this thread is the HERITAGE large fowl thread. I sincerely doubt you will find a good quality heritage bird at the feed store. That said, your male has some exceptionally colored legs! If you do decide to show them, please do let us know how you do.

Then Rocks aren't heritage.. :(

Well, you can get luck of the draw sometimes.

Btw, what do colorful legs mean? I have no idea.

I'm unsure why you would say Rocks aren't heritage. There's a difference in the hatchery lines and the heritage ones. Each has its purpose. I wish you the very best in your endeavors!

Chloe he is actually a very nice guy.....I'm the meany around here. Your Rock appears to be a hatchery Rock, but show him. He is in great condition and as you say you may get lucky. You sound like you can hold your own, so show it and see what happens........in any event you will be able to see what else is being shown and overall learn some things about birds that you may not know yet. I am always learning and I am a whole lot older than you.

Thanks for giving me good advice. I really spoil him to death, so that's why he looks fat and happy. Maybe he'll get a decent prize at fair time. Who knows. What I plan to do is breed him. He's large, and has "decent" barring, so I think he's ok stock.

when you are around after 74 years it is possible that you have done a lot of diverse things..I've got pictures...everything from my ordination papers, to auto racer, university administrator to judge with chicken groupies....almost anything you can think of.

I was hoping someone else would notice this and ask...

Ordination??? That can't possibly mean what I think it does.
