I was actually joking, as I have a profound love for the breed, but thanks for you post - most definitely appreciated!

Oops sorry! Kind of hard to tell when people joke on here. That's why it would be fun to sit down in person with the people on this thread and have these discussions. Sorry again!

Goodness, NO apology necessary! I was only mentioning it as I didn't want you (or anyone else) to think that I really do feel that a world populated only with Giant fowl would be a good one.

Wanted Walt to see this as I know he is in the know on the APA standard. When I saw it I said to myself wow Schilling type stuff.

Even though those birds are not super show chickens you can see the detail of what he put on the canvas. Then when you go to his site and see the Port ates they look like photographs.

I wonder if he is a visual and what side of the brain his painting comes from. bob

I was sending out emails to those who wanted to buy started Red and White Rock Chicks this spring and stumbled on this picture. of the trio of Mottled Javas that I am going to get this January. They are from the old Dr. Albert McGraw line of Alabama.

Hopefully, I will have ten to five teen bird ready to share with those who want to save this old breed and line next year.

Doing my part to keep the old Standard Breed Lines of Old Poultry going in the USA?

Hopefully, you will do the same just one breed that is all we ask. bob

I was able to talk Katherine Plumer (the Rosecomb lady) into doing the illustrations again, but would be interested in seeing his work up close. We can never have too many good artists.

Off to judge a show..back Sunday.

I just ordered some LF single comb RIR from Dick Hortsman. They are such beautiful birds and some of the most impressive that I saw at the Cape Fear Poultry Show in Smithfield, NC this past weekend.
By the way, the WFB Spanish cockerel that I posted on this thread a month ago placed first in his breed! He was the only one!!!!!!!

Quote: White Plymouth Rock Large Fowl 50 years old and pure Oliver Bowen line. He had them for about 20 years and I have had them for 30 years.

Rhode Island Red Large Fowl 100 years old pure Mrs. Donald Donaldson of Decatur Georgia. I have had them off and on for 20 years got them 30 years ago. I only have a few males and females. Have a friend who has a army of them who I am helping out. A joy to see and handle just as good as I had 20 years ago.

Just trying to get the orders straight for next year for chicks on these two breeds . Boy they add up fast go back to summer of this year. Got to get the incubator over hauled to insure maxium hatching. Eggs to scare to ship by first class male.

The above Javas are not to be shared until I get some chicks on the ground. The whole mission on these Javas is to get off spring to go out to the Java future breeders who want to have this old line.

Here is a question ??? Does anyone know who has Dr. McGraws old line? I would like to talk to them as we have a problem I dont know if these birds are inbreed or not.

I am sure someone does maybe even a old female or male that could be crossed down the road. I would like to keep this strain pure and not cross birds that have black in them or what ever.

Not much of a cross strain or cross variety type of person. Who knows in five years maybe we will have three to five people with these birds. bob
