Schilling pictures. How can you get them.? Does a poultry supply house have any? Thats all you need. The words in the standard are the same regardless if its 1962 or 2000. Its the picture I am talking about.

Hi Bob,
Go to Google and click on "images" then search for: Schilling (name the breed) poultry illustration : . A whole slew will come up. When you click on the picture, a choice will come up of "view picture full size" or " view original website".

Keep your eyes on Ebay for some black and white standands for sale or what ever sight they may be. You will not find them on the Internet for free.
Country Books in NZ has reprinted the black and white SOP.

Not much in the way of grass or bugs here in scorched-earth-desertville, but there's plenty of fresh air and sunshine and outside is way more interesting than inside.

Ah, Tucson, I wax poetic. Was there at the Lazy K Bar dude ranch for 2 weeks the summer of '78. So much fun and things to see. We went to Cochises' great grandsons' 102nd birthday party. The Ranch always donated the steer. They cooked it in the ground Apache style. It was good. The Chief had a face like carved granite and looked like he had seen the ages. Had the party at a place where a 90 yr. old gentleman was still making stagecoaches as he had done for many years.
That was a summer to remember.

I am a little behind, again , so pardon if this has been answered. SInce I am still learning and my head goes spinning, can someone confirm, left is hatchry and right is std bred?
You betcha ! There is not a good meal on a single hatchery BO that I have seen. They are DUAL purpose birds !

Monnie662 - Thank you so much for that recall info! My son has eggs incubating (at my inlaws) in that Brower model right now.

Hi,
I was digging around on Google Books to see what was interesting and came across this little booklet by American Poutry Journal from 1908. Now I don't know any of these breeds. Nor how to breed them, nor how much their Standards have changed since then. Some were seeking antique lit on these breeds. They are all breeds we have discussed here. Sad the folk who scanned it left out all the color plates, that would have been wonderful to see. The latter half of the booklet is info on how to mate them, breed by breed. Wasn't cheap either, 1.00 in 1908 went a long way.

A question for the judges/experts - could/would/should that "bump" I've circled be considered a sprig? (IMO. It looks worse/more prominent in real life ....
