Good idea. I'm going to steal that! When in the pens, I try to take pictures of the flock as they move and take pictures of tails, backs and etc. I've also taken black and white silhouette photos before and those are helpful when looking for the SOP on type but hadn't thought about taking several photos of the same bird for folio study.I do something similar to NanaKat. In addition, I find it helpful to put each of the possible keepers, individually, into a small pen and take multiple photographs of each bird. I like having the photos for reference, in addition to the hands on evaluation and the written records. I'll often see something in a photo that I missed when handling the bird.
good idea Jeff ging chickens rabbit feed also has more salt I think. Many guys give their chickens on the tie catfish floating feed which they mix up in their game bird through on the ground mix. bobJust keep in mind of the salt contents of the other animal foods when feeding the chickens they do not process the salt(delicate excretory systems) as efficiently as the cats and dogs do and remember size comparatives of dogs and most cats compared to the size of chickens too![]()

I like this guy. I like his head and comb too. It looks like that comb is attached to his skull behind his eyes. That's something I really look for. I can't stand a Leghorn comb on a Rock or an Orp. Did somebody snatch out his top tail feathers ?That's what my old hens do to the young cockerels every time they get fresh.Vickie/Fred/Jeff (and all others)
Here are a few pictures of the "green banded" K that was the far right bird in the 2nd pix in that group I posted last week
He WOULD NOT settle down long enough for a good profile shot
Here is one showing width of back from front to back, darn brassiness is already beginning to show up (#$^%$@)
And here are a couple showing his head and legs

Gotta work on getting pix of #1 boy later....setting up for a Sunday School BBQ and mama says "the chickens gotta be put up"....gotta mind mama, if she aint happy, nobody is happy. Have you got a spare kid around ? Put a feed sack over him, and make him rattle it off to the side when you're trying to get a side shot. That's what dairy and beef cattle photographers use to put "ears" on cows.Works for horses too.Nothing threatening, or you'll booger them into the next county !
Where's the other #1 boy ?!
