How endangered are New Hampshires? I read about 30 or so pages back you more knowledgeable folks talking about Tim Bowles and he was sorta the torch barer for the original line of the original breed of New Hampshires. I know one who does breed them. Don't know IF their original to heritage lines. I see alot of interest in making Delawares from what is said to be New Hampshires. Do we need more? I maybe able to get a few if I am nice and a good boy. That is definitely not easy for me. I am reading inbetween the lines, but I think some want me to show a mutant that has similar feathering just to see in person how close my mutants are to the feathering traits of New Hampshires. Cause their not New Hmpshires. And that breeder has some real ones. And shows them. I am willing to take the heat to get in his favor by showing a mutt by this breeder's suggestion, and heaven forbid I don't want to win anything, just to try and talk him into working a pullet or two from some of his stock.

how can those of us that can only obtain eggs, and the eggs being not known if their sisters and brothers, go about breeding?

You work with what you have. Make a lot of babies and cull heavily. Do a lot of reading on this site and find out how to do it.

Edger Mongold was the New Hamp King, don't know if he still is, but you are not going to find anyone else with more knowledge of them than him.

Thanks Walt. I am taking both of them to the show, but only showing the cockerel, let's see what he and everyone thinks. I already offered my pair for free IF he thinks he can use them. And or get me a cull to work in the correct type and coloring.
thanks again
Bill

Make him your friend on facebook. He comes from an old time breeder family, mostly white rocks. He did the rocks a while and then New Hamps for many years. If you have a question he will probably answer it.

I'm too old for facebook. I can't figure it out. It just looks like a bunch of games to me. I am technologically challenged. My kids made me a facebook page, and they have to help me navigate.

I can't text, either. However, I am proud to say I have now learned how to retreive phone messages from my cell phone, after 9 years.
