Thank you very much Matt. I appreciate you letting us know he's alright. I've enjoyed conversing with him via email a few times. I just didn't want to be rude and keep pestering him by email. Glad yall didn't get any tornado damage!

Thanks

Before building a coop, consider a carport. A 12'x21' or 18'x21' carport divided in quarters will make 4 breeding pens. Cost in most states is less than $700. (Hint: I can sell American Steel Carports in most states). But whoever you buy from, they make a great and fast coop. I can advise on how to attach the wire etc.

On what breeds to choose. Your wife should choose one breed and you choose one breed. Then you both agree on a nother one or two breeds. Several of us can suggest breeders. For Black Australorps and Orpingtons see Terry Britt in Oklahoma (not a BYCer). For Wyandottes see the Foleys (aka Mr and Mrs Turbo). There are several with good Barred Rocks and Sussex. check out www.featherauction.com and you will find lots of excellent stock.

Skylinepoultry, thanks for letting me know about the Marraduna Basque. I'm not familiar with that breed. I'd appreciate any info about them if you get a chance, and I'll look them up on the internet as well. I'll back to you if we would like some.

JimsFarmStand, I appreciate your help also. I'll put those breeders on a list for future consideration. A carport is a great idea, but I can get something built that won't cost me much. I have plenty of locust trees on my property to make corner posts for a building and my family was given some free lumber logged on my neighbor's place when he died. My brother does heating and air so I can get sheet metal for the roof at cost. Other than some nails, fencing and getting my brothers rounded up to work on it, I'm good to go.

Hey Skylinepoultry, I happened to run across that squidoo site right after I posted. Not much into the Basques though after checking them out. I bet your mad now, huh?

Is Skyline Poultry website yours? I checked it out too, but I couldn't get any of the pictures to come up except the one at the very top of the page. Are those blue Langshans? What ever they are, I like them!

It will be a little while before I am ready to pick out something, but I will certainly keep you in mind for some of the other breeds you have if that was your website. Especially those black chickens with the blue on them. My wife really wants some Silver Laced Wyandottes. I can't remember now (I looked at too much stuff last night) but do you have Wyandottes?

Thanks!

I'm not mad, lol. Everyone has their own preference. I've got a lot. My favorite is Basque & Langshans.
Yes, I own and operate Skyline Poultry. Just let me know when you'd like some Blues and Ill hook you up.
Cheers

You could contact Frank Reese Jr. or Danny Williamson. They own and operate Good Shepard Poultry Ranch. I believe they run about 3000 hens over winter plus around 450 cock birds. They free range all of their birds and they are true standard bred birds. They may be able to supply the numbers.

Good luck with the birds
