Great, sounds like the humidity is at a good level! Yes, opening the bator during external pipping, as this little one has done, can suck the moisture out of the egg and the chicks stick to the inside of the shell and die. So you should never open the lid when there is pipping unless it's an emergency. If I HAVE to open the lid, I have a spray bottle filled with room temp water and after quickly opening the lid, I will douse the eggs and everything in the bator with my spray bottle and then quickly shut the lid.

Really hope it's okay I have a few hygrometers in order but they havnt arrived yet and the janoel doesn't have one built in, saving for a brinsea or a hovabator

It's pipped a bit further now and every now and then you can eeeesh it's beak peeping through fingers crossed he breaks through

in the mean time another one has successfully broken through

So what is happening this morning in the Bobwhite incubator nursery?

the one that was stuck is still stuck not sure what to do he just seems to peck in the same place and doesn't move around the shell, just wish he would make an exit

If you feel comfortable doing this with the stuck chick. I would open the incubator remove him and pick the shell away from around the pip hole.

Sometimes it doesn't take much to get them going and they can hatch on their own

managed to pick a little off and he managed to crawl out he isnt walking much at the moment

His foot seems to be bent back a bit any ideas on how to help him

How is the little chick doing? You might keep tucking the foot under the chick, even making a tiny nest out of a dish cloth or something and tucking the foot under him until it relearns this position. He could probably use a bit of water, you can hold off on food for the rest of the day, he should have enough yolk to go a bit. So you might quickly dip his beak in water and set him in this tiny nest with his foot positioned properly.
