>. If that bobcat was close enough to the house to be shot it was only a matter of time before it attacked something else like a small child.. I have lived in the country my whole life and spent alot of time in the woods and I know one thing , bobcats are very elusive creatures. You just don't see them every day, it is like a cougar when they come near people it never turns out good, for the cat or the people

Yeah. Why just the other day I was reading a story about all the bobcat attacks there have been in the United States....oh wait...no I wasn't.

"In general, bobcat attacks are not very common. Based upon a number of reports in recent years, it appears that rabid bobcats are responsible for most attacks. Bobcats do not come in contact with humans much due to the fact that they are nocturnal and usually shy away from humans. Therefore, if you encounter a bobcat during the day extra precaution should be taken since there is good chance that the animal could be rabid.

As for domestic livestock, bobcat attacks are generally minor and localized. Bobcats constitute a small portion of all predation on livestock with less than 10% of predation on sheep and goats being done by bobcats (Anderson & Lovallo 2003).

The following are a few suggestions, given by the Arizona Department of Game and Fish, for dealing with or preventing bobcat encounters:

If you find a bobcat in your back yard:

Make noise to let it know that it is not welcome.

Spray it with a hose.

Remove any possible food source, including pets and pet food.

Do not feed or touch it.

If you run into a bobcat while hiking:

Keep your child on your shoulders and your pets on a leash.

Stay calm and do not run.

Back away from the bobcat slowly. "

Note it does not say: Immediately overreact and shoot the bobcat.

An ex-boyfriend of mine was attacked by a rabid Bobcat when he was hiking in Florida. I'm from Florida so seeing Bobcats are not an uncommon thing. My brother even had one stuffed that he shot about 30 years ago.

There is nothing wrong with shooting or killing predatory animals that are on your property. There is nothing wrong with relocating them either. It is a personal choice.

My opinion is, if there is a predatory animals on my property then it is going to go away and it will not have the chance of ever coming back.

When deer season comes around again, some of those beautiful deer that have been running around our farm will go into our freezer.

Take care,

Tami

Wow, you are really dense! There's no getting through to you! You obviously value animals' lives over human lives and refuse to even try to understand that people have to protect their property and families against predators of any kind, man or beast. People can't wait until the animal kills something to take action, they have to get while the gettin's good.

Note to everyone: If you catch a predatory animal (e.g.: coons, coyotes, bobcats, cougars, wolves, bears) take them to scatcatla's house!

Note to self: Do not move to AZ!

Over the past few years the bobcat population of this state has exploded! The game commision concludes that these wild animals have become acustomed to the use of cymbols and water hoses as a deterent against thier predetory behavior.
All chicken owners need to be alerted to use twice as many broody hens each season and keep their bators running year round in order to feed these starving giant wild agressive cats.

Relocating is generally considered inhumain because it removes the animal from its home area and into a new one. This causes territorial fights as well as other issues which can cause the loss of life of more than the origional animal that was relocated. Relocating also spreads disease. Lastly, relocating is illegal in most areas. Some areas it is legal if you get a permit (which is policy to never give out so again basically illegal). I am not talking just specifically bobcats but nusance animals in general. As a side note, I believe FL is one of the states that you need a permit to relocate animals (I know one animal for sure but not posative about bobcats, I didnt look it up because the OP solved thier problem).

I just thought people needed to be reminded...

Are you really just that scared all the time? That level of paranoia has GOT to be exhausting.

Dude, I live in LA. We have some of the worst gang violence in the country. I'll take a mountain lion or a bear ANY day.
