Oh my gosh! I'm in tears for the life of that poor animal! He was just minding his own business and some mean person shot him for no reason. Who could do such a thing? How dare you protect your own property! Now, let's all hand our guns over to the government and everything will be better. After that, we can stop building houses and taking over the poor animals' land. Oh wait, in order to do that, we have to stop multiplying. So, everyone stop having children, so we won't keep shoving the other species around. Bunch of bullies! You think this is a mono-specieistic society we live in?

my mrs said to me" if you caught a fox in your chicken coop, what would you do with it ? would you kill it?" i replied " if a fox got into my chicken coop it is no ones fault but my own for not making it secure enough ,so i would let it go.".

If you're not sure the bobcat was the culprit, why was it killed? Are your chickens caged? Not enough info here to really comment. My gut feeling is - ugh I feel bad for any animal that gets it like that. Sorry about your birds, would you feel bad if you found out it was the coon instead? Just wondering.

I have to say this one thing about this thread and the mention that some are sensitive to postmortem pictures of predators: on the other BYC, in the Predators & Pests area, there is a warning right in the forum title that reads:
Warning...May be graphic post mortem pictures of predators or prey in this category

If you click on any post in this section, just be prepared to see the above mentioned photographs. If you are not, then perhaps you should not look at that particular post. JMHO. Maybe we should include that warning in this BYC as well. Predators are terminated, like it or not, and photographs may be posted.

Hmm, I think my biggest issue here is that there wasn't any proof that the cat killed any chickens. You said that there were coon tracks around, they could have been responsible. I guess I just don't like seeing such a beautiful animal killed. But, I think they are dangerous just to be around. I know I wouldn't want one around my house...

ok i think the bobcat chould be killed cause ,

1. he waz on there property and are know to kill small dogs and cats

2. not to long ago a florida man waz attacked bye an bobcat while he waz taking his trash out and the bobcat attacked and the man ended up strangling the bobcats ,and they sent it off to be tested for rabies and the bocat had rabies and the guy had to be treeted for rabies,

3. bobcats can be a danger to kids

4. i understand that they bobcat waz just doing what bobcats do,look for food and poultry is ans easy meal

thats just my opinons

I hate to see such a beautiful animal dead.
On the other hand, I think if we had those in here in MI. and one was at my house.............

The safety of our property and pets etc. has to come before worrying about wild animals.

I agree fully.
