Bobcat in the coop as I write. All my Sussex are gone.

I live in National Forest. I can kill this one and there will be another next week. It would be an endless battle. Just like it is with the foxes. the skunks and the weasels. All I can do is build a Fort Knox of a coop. I thought I had but this Bobcat taught me a lesson.

There might be another one next week, but I'd sure get target practice while trying. There's no way it could hurt to kill them. Sooner or later you're bound to get some relief.

We tried that with the foxes. Just wasting bullets. I have moose, deer and elk daily on the property. Cougar come by occasionally. Like I said most of the property that borders my property line is National Forest mountain land. Relief is not in the cards.

Wow....that would have been an easy shot with my .250 Savage...

The Bobcat is back!

I was checking on the 6 week old chicks in the coop when my dog alerted me to the Bobcat above my head. I got my dogs into the house and phoned a coworker who is also a Hunting guide.
He was there within 15 minutes with his dogs. They tracked and treed the bobcat twice. He is training some new pups so this is working for us both. He is going to keep moving the cat off until it gets the message.

My coop is buttoned up right so he did not get any chicks.
