Bobcat in the coop as I write. All my Sussex are gone.

@jmagill

Could you put a hot wire around your coop. I understand your plight. Although I live at the edge of town, my property is bordered by a state forest and the whole town basically sits inside a state park. Lots of coons, opposums, bobcats, hawks, owls, Bald Eagles, feral cats, the occasional coyote and lots and lots of neighborhood dogs. A wire at the bottom, one at the top and a relatively small fence charger makes me feel a lot better. It doesn't do much for the flying predators though.

Please keep us updated. I am glad you found a way to scare the bob cat off and your friend gets to work his dogs. I hope you don't lose any more chickens.

That cat will be back until all the food on your property is gone or the cat dies.

You need to build a very sturdy coop and run (including a full high strength top).

Run some decent electric fencing and make sure your birds are always in the run or coop.

This is a good idea! I had a skunk in my yard last week probably because I haven't relieved myself by the coop since fall. I did it the next day and no signs of anything. I encourage my sons to do it all the time as well to "mix" it up a bit.
