bobwhite/japenese quail????????

is it okay to mix quail together with different breeds????

I don't recommend it. The bobwhite can be aggressive to other species of quail.

I would still separate. Although convenient to have them together, you would need to quarantine the new birds for 30 days and then have them in in their own pen.

Once, a Japanese quail got out onto the barn floor. One of my bobwhite cages is about at ground level, so they could see each other. The bob fluffed up huge, and made his 'Get any closer or I'll kill you' look on his face and started trying to get at him through the wire.

Can't say I would reccomennd it!

(Had a bob get in the Japanese cage and killed two of them. Jus sayin.)

thanks for the info , i guess ill have to seperate them than if i get the others, is there any other quail i could put in with the bobwhites?

Bobwhites and bobwhites... maybe Wisconsins, Texas bluescale? I don't know, I would just stick with bobs and bobs.

I have my Bobs, valleys, and coturnix in separate pens. Works for me, no one gets killed. Win win situation.

My professor always told me that there are no freaks or weirdos in poultry, just exceptions
