BOBWHITE QUAIL CHICK EMERGANCY!!!!!

It's fine, it's hard on to beat myself up. I'm sorry for losing all the eggs, I have never had that happen before... but I will not give up. This last chick is doing awesome though, I do think it was the protein problem. I'm feeding him his chick starter crumble with crushed boiled egg, he eats the egg more then anything but he is running around and happy. I thought I would lose him last night

Quail can make awesome pets. I heard a story about a pet quail that lived indoors, loved to cuddle and used a litter box! (actually it was more like a piece of toilet paper).
 
That's what I want, but I'm always afraid that he won't be connected to me. I mean I've had a rooster who was the only one who would come and sit in my lap, wouldn't let me touch him but he would perch on my knee and fall asleep
 
I had button quail once too. I ordered 20 eggs from eBay and only had 3 hatch 1 died because it was sickly looking and weak after hatch. The two got their feathers I got really lucky because one was male and the other female. Then the male escaped his cage one day, he got scared and flew into a wall breaking his neck. So then I only had the hen who layed three eggs then stopped for some reason. About 2 weeks ago she died from shock. When she died I found that her legs were stripped of skin and bone was showing, and her left foot was broken. I would have found earlier but every time I go to check her she flies into the ceiling so I was afraid that she would kill herself like the male...
 
I've never had a deformed chick before. So i dunno, my buttons weren't very tame they seemed more feral and I was surprised because I hatched them but maybe it's how they are supposed to be
 
I wish they could be less skittish. But whatever. I'm gonna get some laying jumbo coturnix quail soon. Something new, I would've gotten chicks but with all these chicks dying I didn't want to waste my money or go through the death again. I also have more eggs in the incubator should be hatching the Wednesday after next. So this lone chick will have some buddies if he makes it far, but I have hope in this little guy
