Bobwhite questions

Well, it's official. I am OUT of "A&M"'s! Got rid of the last 8 this morning.

Come spring/summer, I am going to be looking for some large bobwhites to try

It all started last spring when I was "given" (small donation) these A&M's by my son's high school Ag class. Well, I wasn't happy with the meat and the eggs, while fun, really have no market around here. So I started giving away some eggs to some BYC'ers and some birds to those who are curious about the bite sized bird. I was hanging onto about 30 of them over winter so I could get into selling fertile eggs in 2010. Well, I "got rid of" all but 8 over the course of a week from a barn cat that couldn't keep her paws out of the cage. The last 8, ironically, went back to the H.S. Ag class to lay again, hatch again, and hopefully teach the kids about the circle of life.

The whole 9 month process of having these so called A&M quail cost me hundred of dollars. They were fun, I learned alot, and hope to try a different breed soon. Hopefully with much better success

(Ya right. You BYC'ers are all enablers!!! I'm going to die broke, but not hungry!)
