Boiler issues - Working sort of ;(

Intriguing idea...do they just provide heat or electricity, too?
We keep our heat set really low and use a woodstove to play the keep-it-warm-enough-so-the-heat-doesn't-kick-on game.

Hey Boyd, I just saw the pic on FB. You have a separate gas fired hot water heater. That's the tank on the left. So, your hot water is separate. You could reduce fuel useage a lot with some upgrades.

Thermal solar panels are cheap and incredibly efficient. They produce hot water you use to heat the house, heat your hot water, and even heat a pool.

Photovoltaic panels, the ones that make electricity, are very expensive and very inefficient.

It's hard to beat a woodstove though.

I replaced my inside unit this past January ~ the guy told me that hopefully I could get another year or so out of the outside unit. (15 years on both) We will upgrade to a 3.5 ton when we replace it.

Too bad you didn't get the panels ~ you're right, would have paid for themselves fast.

The woodstove is AWESOME! It's in the basement, but a previous owner of the house encased it in a hood with a blower that blows the warm air right into the ductwork of the house, so it doesn't take long at all to warm up the whole house. It's furthest away from the bedrooms, so they stay cold, but I sleep better in a cold bedroom, so that works out well.

Actually, wanna watch a rough guy fall asleep fast? Put a drowsy baby in my arms. As soon as she's sleepin I am out like a light. Momma bear takes the grand baby from me before I am beyond able to wake up and pushes/prods me into going to sleep in my room
