Bonded duckling and chick? Can you help ID them?

Yeah, we're playing it by ear on the noise thing. I really hope it's a hen. The pics i've seen of the Partridge Rocks, the hens have lots of red stuff on their heads. Hoping that's all it is.

I guess even if this doesn't work out that I'm hooked and will be seeking hens in the future!

Yes hens have the red combs but their combs shouldn't be that red until they are almost ready to lay eggs. Roos get red combs earlier and their adult rooster feathers come in with their first molt.

sad day. Poof this morning the fowl are gone. a few chicken feathers and that's it no other evidence. We had wildfires yesterday afternoon and the smoke made me feel sick so I fell asleep early and we had to keep all the windows closed. I never even heard anything.

Dang it. I tried not to get attached.

We live on a canyon. I knew even though they were in a separate fenced area that there was always a chance something would be able to figure out how to get them. I just didn't expect it to happen so soon!

I'm so sad now. I keep going out there hoping I'm wrong, that somehow they are just loose in the bigger part of the yard. No such luck I'm sure.

I'll be sticking around though as we'll have more backyard fowl someday now that I know I am OK to have them.

HUG your chickens everyone,

Susan

I'm sorry too!

Maybe they got chased off and could come back? Maybe?

You never know. I'll be thinking of you while I hug my chickies.
