Muscovy Ducklings in dire need of help (Cant walk)

Mallard derived ducklings will stay in a kiddie pool but muscovy ducklings jump!!!! I use a long deep tote with translucent sides. When my muscovy ducklings get to the jumping age [about 2 weeks!!] I put a chicken wire cover over the brooder. I have had muscovy ducklings that will work out that if they stand on their food dish or water tub, they are closer to the top of the tote and have a better chance of jumping out!!!!

@DJBass88: where are you? [State and city]

North Florida.

Its been pretty eye opening as to the intelligence of the ducks. They are starting to warm up to me and not peck me or scream in terror when I pick them up or approach them. A friend who wanted to take a quick peek at them however and they got immediately terrorized just by the sight of another human.

July 1st update: Puffy and Speedy are walking much better now. Finally I've seen some sign of improvement. Puffy is now bending their knees and able to lift up and sit tall. Speedy is also making a little improvement. I got some amazon supplies coming tomorrow such as the B vitamin complex and 1 inch wrap then will attempt to get them bandaged and maybe that'll help them get to the final stretch. See picture/Video below:

Thank you for the update.
I am in St Augustine: depending on how East you are in North Florida, I could come and help you.

Now going back to your earlier question about releasing them to the wild, when ready. I am afraid it is illegal to release them to the wild in Florida. You can only release muscovy on private land with landowner permission.

Again, depending on how east you are in North Florida, I might be able to help with rehoming. I rescue, rehab and rehome ducks. I have had few drakes rehomed but females are less difficult to find new homes. Drakes, I generally end up keeping.

I think with some planning I can drive to St. Augustine one weekend. Would the plan be for me to give you the ducks or for me to hold on to them until an owner is found?

What is the law in Alabama or Georgia? lol

Okay but the cuteness is too much 🤩

Okay but the cuteness is too much 🤩

Well thankfully I am immune to that but not to the male instinct of trying to protect. Its been quite an undertaking trying to rehab a now 5 week duckling back to normal with no prior knowledge or infrastructure. Big thanks to everyone who has helped me in this thread and other threads on here that I found on google.

I'm thinking the lake or area where I am at just does not have the suitable food or rather is not good for ducks. I keep seeing these farm raised Muscovys on youtube and Puffy/Speedy seem to be a full 10 days behind in development on where they should be. They were first spotted May 26th with 13 other siblings.

So now im also faced with the likelihood more ducklings will suffer a similar fate around here unfortunately. I've seen three more females brooding near some buildings (Two with missing feathers on the their wing Quill's)

Side note: Gave puffy/Speedy Vitamin B complex today. They absolutely hate it and would not eat it on Peas. So I had to open its beak and put a couple drops in one at a time. Adding the 1 inch ace bandages unfortunately did not work. They both got it off by pecking at it. Gonna attempt it again tomorrow but they got very very pissed/scared between the Vit B drops and that. Too much for one day.

Good news however is they seem far more energetic today than ever.

It's a work in progress we're pulling for all 3 of you. Of course the farm raised ducks are going to look better they are fed everyday where the Muscovy you see have to hunt for their food. and if there are many ducks then that even cuts their finding enough food to keep them healthy. It's very sad Muscovy are a wonderful breed of duck.

I can arrange to meet you half way : somewhere along I-10

It's illegal to release muscovy to the wild in all US States including Georgia and Alabama

Let's plan on a ducky transfer weekend of 13/14 July.

As the younger generation would say, What a wild law (lol)

I responded to your DM. Thank you for your help.
