Muscovy Ducklings in dire need of help (Cant walk)

And @ruthhope can address releasing them since she does rescues and would know if it would work once they are old enough and have recovered.
Poop yes they are poop machines pee pads come in handy and lots of paper towels and spray I use white vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Old towels with pee pads over them main thing with their legs like they are is making sure they don't walk or run on slick surfaces which can make it worse.

I have used plastic swimming pools for brooders. I always used towels, but I know that is a lot of laundry. You want something non-slip since they're having issues.

Good idea to start now looking for homes. You can use the state threads here on BYC to see if there is anyone near you that might take them. You can also check Nextdoor or Craig's List to start getting ideas if there is someone who wants to rescue some ducks.

Ill whip up a bottle of that spray you mentioned. 10-4 on the slick surfaces.

I think the swimming pool will be too small and not high enough soon. Especially If I can make progress with their legs. Ive thought about towels, pine bedding, etc. and I suppose towels are really the most efficient option for me. I have six sets I change 2 to 3 times a day depending on if I am off work or not.

Ill inquire about those. Thanks for the suggestions.

When I had my Runners in last fall they outgrew their brooder so I took a dog X pen and made them a large brooder on the floor. I used old window screen to keep the shavings on their side and not ours and used 2 walls as part of the brooder this worked great. I put down a tarp on the floor and shavings over top. They stayed in this for 3 weeks before I could move them out.

@Miss Lydia should post a picture of her brooder from last year - it was awesome! I start with the small size kiddie pool than graduate to the larger. Occasionally a duck will jump out, but they pretty much stay in. I love having it open so I can easily reach in, but the first time I brooded I wrapped 2 foot hardware cloth around it.

Mallard derived ducklings will stay in a kiddie pool but muscovy ducklings jump!!!! I use a long deep tote with translucent sides. When my muscovy ducklings get to the jumping age [about 2 weeks!!] I put a chicken wire cover over the brooder. I have had muscovy ducklings that will work out that if they stand on their food dish or water tub, they are closer to the top of the tote and have a better chance of jumping out!!!!

@DJBass88: where are you? [State and city]
