Book Chat— Harry Potter Series

I've read and watched the series a bunch of times. What do y'all think of the movies compared to the books? I honestly like the books better but the movies are fine...I guess.
Hands down, the books are better.
The movies, whilst visually exciting and beautiful, leave out so much and change so much from the books. Especially from Half-Blood Prince, it feels like, with the Pensieve memories of Voldemort and such. (I will also never forgive them for changing the Draco/Harry Sectumsempra scene.)
So, hands down, I like the books better.

And while I do understand that they couldn't exactly keep all the information from the books in the movies, a few things would have been good to add.

I actually watched the first movie with friends before I read the books, but I still like the books better. The only difference for me was that I imagined the actors while I read, so I wasn’t disappointed with the casting when I finally watched the other movies (except for one thing, what was with the casting for child Snape? The actor they chose had an unusually small nose, and Snape has an unusually large nose. How hard was it to find a kid with a big nose who was a decent actor? I don’t even remember him having any lines). But the books are better because of all the little details that the movies left out or changed.

Solid Hufflepuff here! My daughter (10 yo) is a Ravenclaw/Hufflepuff and we love all things HP! When we got our chicks, it was a real toss up on how to name them. But I'm also a huge Doctor Who fan and those female leads won out. Fav book was POA, but agreed that I can read any of them and be in love! My fav people are probably McGonagall, Luna, Hedwig, and Fleur. My daughter's is Delphini from The Cursed Child. She's a sucker for an underdog/misunderstood character.... Thanks for the thread!

With the Snape child actor, IKR? He didn't have any lines at all. Just...stood there for the most part XD
Even adult Snape doesn't look how I imagined him, but no one can play a better Snape then Alan Rickman did.

Harry Potter fan here too! Read all the books & seen the films far too many times! Books certainly my favourites as there is so much more detail in them.... also I quite enjoyed watching the “Fantastic beasts & where to find them” film.

Welcome!

I'm a huge Potter fan too. Not trying to hack the thread but if y'all enjoy Harry Potter so much(who wouldn't?) then you should read the Fablehaven series by Brandon Mull. It's another great fantasy series. It consists of 5 books then it continues into the Dragonwatch series. Just a thought! And I'm a Griff, favorite characters are the Weasley twins and Tonks!

Oh my gosh! I haven't read this series, but my daughter named her chick Vanessa, based on one of the characters from this series! I'll have to check it out!

I can agree with the watching and reading them one to many times haha!
I loved Fantastic Beasts! I haven't seen Crimes of Grindlewald yet, though, but I am planning on seeing it soon if I can.
