I have a $25 borders gift card I got for christmas that I still haven't spent. I think I'm going to take trip there tonight and see if I can't find something since I just finished reading my other book.

So I'm looking for some book suggestions from my BYC friends! Typically I like books that are fictional. I love satyrical or humorous writing, as one of my favorite authors is Douglas Adams. I also like FBI or other crime thrillers. I do like some fantasy and sci-fi, but I don't really care for anything that's too out there. I love fictional animal type stories and sometimes I can get into some paranormal thrillers.

So do you guys have any suggestions for me? One series that was suggested to me was the Discworld books, but I held off on them because I wanted to see if there was anything else that caught my fancy.

Have you seen the Warrior series-about cats. A book called SHIVER is about a wolfboy. I think it depends on your age .... for crime I like tess Gerritsen

From the description of the kinds of books you like, this one, "Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Story" by Leonie Swann, sounds right up your alley!

From Wiki-
"The sheep belonging to George Glenn awake to find their shepherd dead with a spade in his middle, and resolve to solve his murder. The story is set in the fictional Irish village of Glennkill. Largely humorous in character, the novel displays a strong knowledge of sheep behavior, biology, husbandry and breeds (the merino and hebridean are present, among others). Using the perspective of the flock, Swann makes comedic jabs at human character and institutions."

For satirical or humorous books, I love Christopher Moore. He's written several books that have made me laugh out loud, which is embarrassing if you are reading in public.

A Dirty Job.....it a story about an accidental Grim Reaper
Lamb:The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal.....highly irreverent, very funny
Coyote Blue...about a guy with a close personal relationship with Coyote

He has others, but I haven't read them. My favorite is Lamb, about Jesus's childhood and early adulthood. It is very funny.

I am a fan of Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child (they co-author books together as well as write independantly), but their books can be dark and sometimes downright scary. James Rollins is another favorite of mine. His sigma series is my favorite of his books. Dan Brown books are great, imo.
