I've been reading "Genetics of the Fowl" (Hutt) , it is very interesting, but very dense - and in some chapters I have to look up 3 out of every ten words. I can only read about 4 or 5 pages at a trot before I have to put it down and process for a while.

Are there any other more digestible books on these subjects you could recommend?

Sigrid Van Doort’s Chicken Color Genetics is really good but really expensive.
I’ve heard contradicting opinions on Sigurd van doort, but dont know much about them myself. Care to weigh in?

🤷‍♀️ I don’t know what to say about her. I had no idea there was controversy. But she explains genetics in an easy to understand way and includes gorgeous pictures (some of which she drew herself.)

Im interested particularly in books that aren't just about plumage. I have an egg laying flock. I don't care what colour they are. I want to breed for utilitarian purposes.
