I did learn quite a bit from Storey's Guide to Raising Chickens, but I found BYC to be more helpful.

I felt that Storey's Guide only gave me the "ideal" way to do things, and I've learned on this site that there are a multitude of things that can be done in different ways!

Oh................I just need a book to help with incubating and hatching eggs (first timer)

I agree! I've read 2-3 books on raising chickens and have found this forum WAY more useful. A book can't answer questions like "will a carabiner deter a raccoon", and "is runny poop normal".

Best, most awesome info on chickens as well as any other animal or self-sufficient homesteading topic is Carla Emery's Encyclopedia of Country Living.
Terrific Book! I refer to it constantly.
