Storey's Guide to Raising Chickens by Gail Damerow taught me a lot.

The Storey's Guide to Poultry Breeds by Gail Damerow.

I did learn quite a bit from Storey's Guide to Raising Chickens, but I found BYC to be more helpful.

I felt that Storey's Guide only gave me the "ideal" way to do things, and I've learned on this site that there are a multitude of things that can be done in different ways!

Best, most awesome info on chickens as well as any other animal or self-sufficient homesteading topic is Carla Emery's Encyclopedia of Country Living.
Terrific Book! I refer to it constantly.
