Bored Chickens make a not so fun time

Amen. Me either. Op seemed clear when they said the henhouse would be 1 square foot per bird and the run would be 4 square feet per bird. I hope they get this worked out.

Have you seen the plans that she posted for the coop and stuff? it certainly looks bigger than any 1 ft per bird.. when I went to check in on ours, they were shoulder to shoulder on a third of the perch size.

The only thing I saw was some zip program. I don't unzip, couldn't see it. I'm going strictly by her words.

I think we have a kid here, can't ask, and a reticent communicator, so who knows where this will go. It's a 'hard to help' kinda scenario.

With no dimensions, and thus no scale, sketches were next to useless.

The only chicken I've had that wasn't so much fun was my roo I sent to the big run in the sky this morning. He'd attacked me for the last time, he came from some friends where I'd guess he didn't have all that much room, the first coop he was in was a 10 x 10, the runs while I haven't calculated out yet how much sq ft they have, I am going to guess I could put probably 3 more coops of the size of the new one 8 x 24 in them. He'd been fine for the first 4 or 5 months then all of a sudden started attacking. Got to the point I was afraid to wear shorts in there. Nothing like seeing a 2.5 inch nail coming at you...

Thank you for the visual. It looks like a plan but without dimensions it isn't any help. If going by the perspective of the feeders, nests, and such it could work I think, but how can we be sure these are proportional? OP @WiccanKC , can you add the walls length and width to this drawing?

Dimension are needed for us to help but If the OP is a kid, at least they came to the right place for advice...this might go somewhere and it might not, all we can do is try and guide in the right direction and hope for the best

I'm afraid how you raise them doesn't matter. I have coddled some roosters who were sweathearts, and ignored some who turned out to be aggressive.
I think it has to do more with genetics.

Very much agree - We currently have a rooster that's really good w/my husband & I, but not so much with other people. We've another younger one whose sire was a sweetie, whom I've named "Cacciatore", which is what he'll be if he doesn't smarten up

I am making sure that the dimensions of the new coop will have more than enough space for 20 chickens. At least 4 square feet per bird in the run, at least 1 square feet per bird in the hen house, and at least 1 nesting box per 3 chickens. I have been doing a lot of research on this

I'd suggest much more space in the coop & run at least 3 square feet/chicken in the coop & another 8-10 square feet/chicken in the run. If you can, make it somewhat bigger, that way you can make space within the coop for next year's grow outs/replacements &/or mini pens for mating or broodies & wounded birds. Don't forget space for supplies! Think about everything that can happen & try to allot space for it if you can, even if you don't use it right away.
I've just found that it's much better to have extra space than to have to keep adding on - I'm at the adding on stage. We thought of the max amount of birds we'd have & didn't realize all the other stuff - We did include a supply/storage area though, LOL
