Bossy hen remedy

Being in Sacramento were only allowed three hens one of which has recently become very aggressive and attacking one chicken in particular. She was always the first one to the treats. When the others would arrive to the buffet she would always attack one chicken in particular. The aggressive one is the only one that is still laying. what I started doing was letting her come out to get her treats and then locking her out. The other two chickens would stand at the door where I would give them a small amount of treats. When the aggressive chicken noticed the others had something I opened the door and she rushed in to get the what other two had. I locked her in the coop. I left her in there for a few hours and put more treats outside so she could see the other two were getting more than her. I did this three times in one week and it broke her of the habit of attacking. All three hens are silkies.

Some get moody as they sexually mature. They become a bit bossy. I'm glad you were able to straighten your little bossy girl out. Think of them as moody teenagers.

There is always going to be a pecking order. It's been that way since the Domesticated chicken got it's start. Hence, "pecking order" Your girls don't really care who gets locked up. It's a flock with one dominate hen. If you can give food or treats in different areas for them it will go along way to diminish squabbles. They are protecting their food source and don't understand you have plenty.
