Both Roosters and Hens wont grow their feathers back.

Alright on the label it says.
Crude Protein 21.50%
Crude fat 4.00%
Crude fiber 4.00%
Ash 8.50%
Then it has all the ingrediants. I didnt state all the vitamins and nutrients, so maybe the feed might be the problem?
Generally they are outside, but there isn't much outside except dry dirt, so maybe it could be stress issue? I'll stop mixing the feed, but what feed should I change to if that is the case. I will seperate the roosters. As far as the roosters mounting each other I have not seen them do it, but one family member has joked and commented that the roosters have mounted each other. I will stay vigilant on that.
That protein percentage is pretty good. Some I have seen over 30%, so I think the 21% is probably o.k. I would just not mix the corn/scratch with the feed, scatter a small amount for them as a treat instead.

Having a bare run, they may be bored as well. Do they dust bath?
You can try adding some perches for them to get on, add some pine needles/leaves or straw to the run for them to scratch in. For a treat, a small amount of greens or a cabbage hung up for them to pick at. Google "boredom busters for chickens" to find more creative ideas.

Personally, I do like higher protein feed (18-20%). I use Purina Flock Raiser and provide oyster shell free choice for my layers. I try to limit treats to no more than 5-10% of daily intake. My treats can be anything from a little scratch/shelled sunflower seeds, fruit/veggies to eggs. One thing I don't give is bread.

They do dust bath, just not as often as it get really hot during the day. most of the time they stay inside their coop. Their coop is pretty big as we made it a 10ft by 12 foot. So its about 120 sq ft. Their run is pretty large too, I would estimate at least 2500sq ft, maybe more. I will try adding more trees and possibly plant grass. The problem is they wont let anything grow, I planted a small tree and they killed it because the took off all its leaves. I will begin to separate a couple of Roosters, unfortunately I got attached to them :hmm so getting rid of one will hurt :(, I already got rid of one, I used to have 4.

In the mean time- I would strongly, highly, suggest getting some Hen Saver saddles. There are a bunch of brands- at least in my experience, the Hen Saver have been the best fit and longest lasting.

I will say that the vast majority of my hens take a "medium" - and I don't have any bantams. Only my huge girls take a large- and just barely. So it depends on how big your chickens are. If you go that route, maybe order one of each size to start. It will at least cover their backs and provide a little protection.

The main danger of hen saddles would be putting on one that's too big where the tail feathers get rubbed out- learned that the hard way with my now tail-less girl who won't get those feather back until she finally molts this upcoming fall. They make them with "shoulder guards" - which it kinda looks like something your girls would benefit from.

I've got a group of 3-4 that eat eachother's neck feathers- people think I have naked necks. It's my leghorn-ish hens that sit there and do it to eachother and nobody else. Everyone else is fine. They used to stand there and pluck the rooster too- but after he moved past being infatuated with them, he started objecting and pecking back.

I will look into it. It will cost a lot though as I will need to get at least 9 so all of them could benefit from it. That will be at least $90 , Of course I could start with a few that really need it. Any other suggestions? Most of them are growing their feathers back, unfortunately I keep getting more issues with these chickens :he. One Rooster got Bumble foot, and a hen seems to have gotten an ear infection. :( Hopefully I could heal everyone, looks like I'm running a Chicken hospital. Despite keeping cleanliness a top priority, and pouring tons of money into their well-being and comfort.

Try providing them with some shade - can you put up a tarp or sunscreen? Planting inside a run with chickens is probably not going to work. Mine would destroy anything I put there in a matter of days. You may want to think about a few trees on the outside of the run that would provide shade in the future.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having more problems. Were you able to treat the bumblefoot? How is the ear infection - getting better? You may still want to check all the bird for mites/lice - sometimes ear infection can be due to ear mites. If you find any use a Permethrin based poultry spray or dust-treat the entire flock and housing.

If you have any sewing ability you can make your own hen saddles. If you have old blue jeans you could use those for the fabric, any dense fabric that won't catch on pinfeathers is good. https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/free-chicken-apron-saddle-pattern.424354/
I make my own using outdoor fabric like sunbrella, which I buy on clearance, ugly or not.
I find that placing a layer of thin batting between layers of fabric helps them stay in place better.
I have been able to get rosemary and a few other plants to grow in my run by covering the root area with hardware cloth so they can't scratch it up. Just make sure there are no pointy wires around the edges to hurt their feet, cause they will still try at first. Mine spend a lot of time under the rosemary, it's cool, shaded, and I think aromatic enough to help with the gnats and flies, they often smell of rosemary from laying in it. If it's tasty they will eat the plant, but mine have left rosemary and butterfly bush alone. I also have a triangular shade hung in one corner of my open run, like this: https://www.amazon.com/Idirectmart-Triangle-Shade-Sail-Inches/dp/B004OQ4SLI
The triangle shape makes it good for corners.

I will definitely add some shade soon. I am also in the process of planting grass. I fenced off the area and hoping it could establish it's self and spread around before the chickens kill it. Also I will spend some time making some of the saddles out of some old jeans, hopefully they will be good enough quality.:thumbsup Thanks for the advice.
