Botulism and lonely duck....

Hi all!
I'm a newbie to duckies and for those who haven't read my newcomer posts. I lost 3 of my 4 ducks to botulism. This has happened in the last four days. I was sure that my last duck would t make it but he/she is still here! So well that he/she managed to escape pen tonight and was wandering our property chirping for his mates. I'm super happy Lucky( we've renamed due to surviving illness) was able to jump fence and meander around but feel bad for lil guy that he's missing his buddies. How long should I wait until introducing a new duck to him? At this point I can tell he wants me around but hates me at same time. :/ it's like he's saying don't go, don't go but DONT come close to me!!! Poor fart. I've got a mirror with him right now and for the last 24 hrs Lucky has stayed pretty close to it but tonight was not cutting it. Also lucky is a Moulard. If I introduced a khaki Campbell would it matter? Thanks guys!

I named my last surviving Roeun "Lucky" after she survived two dog attacks and lost all of her mates. Guess that name just seems to fit! I eventually gave her away (I couldn't add more ducks at that time) because she was following me everywhere and looked so lonely. Hope you find another duck and can keep your "Lucky".
