Bought Easter Eggers, but the eggs are white.

I bought some eggs that are three days away from hatching. I ordered 6 Easter Eggers and 6 Red Sex Links. I went and picked them up today to bring home and let my kids incubate until they hatch, and the EE eggs are white. I even asked the lady if half were EE and she said yes. I'm confused, and my kids are a little disappointed as they were expecting some blue and green eggs. Was she lying? If they are EE does this mean they will lay white eggs too? Thanks!

My EE lays white eggs that when wet turn green. It is very odd! I am not sure what her "children" would lay...

Easter egger is kind of a junk term for a chicken that "should" possess the blue egg gene. If they do not I wouldn't necessarily call them easter eggers. Some EEs do not lay blue eggs instead laying standard white or brown, because there is no standard definition, technically could still be called Easter Eggers.

If it is a pure bred Ameraucana rooster covering White Leghorn hens - which is somewhat of a common cross, the second generation should lay blue eggs even though they hatched from white eggs. Really any EE or Ameraucana rooster with 2 blue egg genes will produce 100% blue or green egg laying chicks - so it really depends on who the dad is if you have any chance of getting blue or green eggs.

Thanks! After a closer look it looks like 3 might be "pink", but the other three are definitely white. I hope I get some blue or green egg layers! I know nothing about the rooster. I guess I could ask. The eggs are already rocking, hopefully they will hatch soon. I hear the color of the chicken's legs has something to do with colored eggs. Or is this just that Americaunas have green legs?

Well I spoke with her again. The three white ones are leghorns and the three light brown ones are "likely" easter Eggers or black austrolop. Sheesh, so much for all my planning and research into which breeds I wanted.
