i bought eggs from www.vegafarm.com i bought a dozen of taxes a&m. i got 8 /12 to hatch is that good?

That's 66%. I understood shipped eggs at this season to be at about 60% hatch rate, so that sounds reasonably good!

Do you have pics of your quailies? THey are so cute when they're first born.

Technically speaking, that is a 60% hatch rate, because you can't have 6% of a living thing.

That is a good hatch rate for coturnix eggs shipped by any carrier!
I consider 60%+ on any eggs shipped a 100% success.

I tend to round DOWN on hatch rates, but that's just me, because you can't have a 99.99% live chick.
I may be splitting hairs here, but no one has a 68.2143% hatch rate without a live chick to make it 70%,
The hatch rate was good. I think I gave it 100%.
Anything else you want to fight about?

I think you should brush up on your basic maths Canter...

To work out a percentage, you take one number, in this case the number of successful hatches, and divide it by another number, in the case number of eggs set, and then multiply your decimal by 100.

Boogieman got 8 out of 12... That means 8 divided by 12... 0.66recurring Therefore 66.6% (the six is technically recurring)
If you wanted a 99.99% hatch rate, then set 10,000 eggs, have 9,999 hatch.. you have 10,000 divided by 9,999 multiplied by 100... equals 99.99%

Obviously that isnt a 100% hatch rate. It's a 99.99% hatch rate.

We arent talking 99.99% of a chick, we are talking 99.99% of a group.


EDIT: Oh, and boogie, 8 out of 12 seems like a decent number, although personally, if it isnt 12 out of 12, I'd be sad about the ones that didnt make it
