I bought this fellow at an auction last weekend. The tag on his cage said he was the offspring of a Bourbon Red and Blue Slate pair. He doesn't look at all like what I would envision that pairing to produce! (But I'm currently re-reading the Turkey Color Genetics thread here for a refresher!) I also have no way of confirming he really is what was written on his cage, but oh well.

Anyway, I did a quick search on the forums and saw where a few people had mentioned they had turkeys of this cross before, but there were no pictures, and I'm dying to see some pictures of other examples of this crossing! So how about it, does anyone else out there currently have or has had Bourbon Red/Blue Slate crosses before? Here is my boy, it's the only picture I have of him at the moment as he's a bit skittish and still settling in, so I didn't want to harass him with the camera TOO much. I'll be getting some better ones in the days to follow though. :)

Edited to add better pictures.

I am curious about this cross also. I just ordered some Bourbon Red hatching eggs. A lady that lives nearby has Blue Slate turkeys and I normally get my eggs from her. My first batch didn't work out so well and I was eager to try my second one. However, at the moment all her hens seem to be broody at the moment. We were think about doing some trading once my birds are of age. It's too bad these wouldn't make purple turkeys!
