I have a bourbon red hen that is 2 years old. She and our tom had a great first breeding year. She seemed a little late to lay this year and we have been waiting for the "signs". This morning I went out to feed them and noticed she had a wound above her left leg. Not sure if this happened during mating (maybe tom slipped??), or if this happened last night from a preditor while she was sitting out in the woods trying to keep some eggs warm? We have not been able to find a nest yet, but that is normal. She is pretty good at hiding the nest. Any insight and suggestions?
