Bourbon Reds Laying Eggs

Will a Royal Palm be able to breed a Bourbon Red if they do not match on laying times? Also how many eggs can you expect? is it good to collect a few to incubate before letting the hen hatch some out? Thanks I know this an old thread

Im glad you brought it back up. I know there is know actual answer we can get on when our hens will start laying. But I am so anxious for it. Itll be nice to hear when other people hens have started and from what area you are from. Its only january but starting this month I check the nest area everyday. One of them goes in it, I can tell because the shavings and hay are always shuffled around. I cant wait

One of my Burbouns that I purchased as poults last summer started laying in December and continues to do so. Even with our below 0 temps we have been getting here in VT.

My Bourbon Reds will me one year old April 3rd right now my Hens are throwing them selves at my feet with there wings extended so there in the mood for mating I just know how long after this starts that the egg laying will begin.
I,m hoping in the month of March

but I guess it might be sooner I need to get my Tax return back and get that New bigger Incubator or I,m going to have to sell or trade some eggs and ask for them a little latter when I get my Incubator.

Frank, when do you think the older hens stopped laying like the younger ones? At what age would you think?
