yes you should turn then 3 times a day. I keep my eggs in an egg carton fat side up in a storage room in my basement. I tilt the egg carton to one side with something under it to prop it up and then I lean it to the other side. I try for 3 times a day, sometimes I forget. As for giving the eggs back to her im not sure how that works she may or may not sit on them and yes she will turn them herself. If you dont have an incubator or a broody chicken then that would be your best bet to try to get her to sit on them. I dont intend to leave any eggs for my turkey hens because they will stop laying during that time and I only have 2 turkey hens. I will put my eggs in the incubator.I took my turkeys egg today i intend to give her back the eggs i take .i. was wondering do I need to turn the eggs I take three times dailey till I give it back to her.or just let them sit .and then in ten days give them back .an when I do will she turn them her self:
Yes it is possible for her to hatch her own eggs but as I mentioned above she will stop laying eggs during those 28 days and also while she is raising her poults. Because I want my hens to continue to lay I will use an incubator, maybe one day Ill decide to let her hatch her own. I have only collected 6 turkey eggs so far the first ones are like you said slightly larger than a chicken egg. the one we got yesterday was much larger, more of what I pictured the size of a turkey egg to be. here are picsMy bourbon hen also layed her first egg today. I live in Maine and is it possible for her to hatch her own eggs or will I have to incubate it? Also the egg was slightly larger than a chicken egg? How much bigger should they be?
2 yrs old! mine were 8 months when they started laying in December. How strange the age differences they decide to lay at.I got my first bourbon eggs on 3/6/13. from 2 year old birds. western ny
