I have thirteen B.B. eggs in one incubator and this is day 27 and I see three pips

This is my first time hatching turkeys. I am so excited as we love our three adults..two hens and one tom. If we sit in the yard one or the other of the hens will come jump up into our laps and lay down and "talk" to us while the tom stomps around us showing off. He will sometimes let us stroke his head. The girls will lay down and after a short "chat" will fall to sleep on our laps. This is exciting to have little ones again.

Here is the secret for good turkey hatches...... shhhhhhhh don't tell anybody and don't let anybody see you doing it as they may try to lock you up.

get a pair of red shoes and click your heels together three times while chanting "Everybody loves a turkey"

Congrats on your pips!

Well, I still have pips and nothing else so far??? I discovered another pip on the bottom of one egg, I did turn it around quickly so it is facing up. I will see what happens in the morning but now I am getting nervous since I didn't have anymore progress.

I am keeping my hens penned up most of the day, at least till lay their eggs, so I will have another supply ready to go in a few days.

Congrats!! You're gonna have a lot on your hands. I have 5 of 8 pipping right now, my first poults of the year.

The best thing to do is close the incubator and DO NOT OPEN IT. Doing so causes the incubator to lose too much humidity and temp fluctuations and may cause them issues hatching. Mine are in a cabinet incubator with a big clear door, and I'm practically sitting there with my nose pressed to it!

Yes, Stacey, I know I am not suppose to open the 'bator but with the egg being upside down and pipping I was worried about the poult. I went in through the two piece window and the humidity and temp stayed even. I was very quick about it. I won't go in again. Hard not to stay in front of the bator isn't it? I was just reading the article in Mother Earth News by Steve of sandspoultry. Last year I purchased some poults from hatchery and in my ignorant bliss raised them all but now hatching at home has me worried to death. LOL

I keep walking in there and checking the tray with a flashlight. I need to install some kind of strip lighting so I can see what's going on! I'm so tempted to open the door and turn the three eggs around that I can't see the ends of, but I keep slapping my hand and telling myself that it's BAD BAD BAD!! LOL It takes the humidity longer come come back up on the big ones since you have a big door top to bottom and a big ole fan blowin'. And for it's size, I'm actually having issues with keeping it up at 65-70% even though I have a big water pan in it.

I have 8 bourbans out of there shells now 2 more trying and 2 seem to be doing nothing . This is also my first time hatching them . I love the breed they are so easy to get along with and not mean at all.
