BOX FULL of pure breed eggs for sale....CHEAP!!

Haha....Ahhhhh...come on....it is sooooo much fun to raise peeps in the basement/garage/heated shed in November.....NOT! I SWORE I was done hatching, too.....BUT....I think I am going to set a few of my own eggs along with some shipped eggs at the end of Oct. So, come on.....live a little.....then we can complain together about having babies in the house all winter : )

Hi Leah!

Hope you and the baby are doing well.

Here is a picture of "Nilla" - she is the Millie egg that you sent me. What a little bundle of cuteness. I also have a silkie hatched and 4 EEs that are pipped. Some of the eggs didn't make it - I had a humidity incident. I am still a newbie at all this! I am thrilled to bits with Nilla - she (?) is so cute.

The silkie is similar in color to Nilla - kind of creamy white, but with a very light reddish brown sort of swirl between its head and back, so sort of the back of her neck. What color do you suppose it will end up being? I am tempted to call it Latte because the swirl is almost a pale coffee color.

Thanks again!
Claire

Gosh, Claire....It doesn't seem like you should have peeps already, but I guess when I stop to think- the baby is almost 3 weeks old, so that should be right. Time flies! I'm really not sure a/b the coloring of the silkie. The only colors I have gotten here this year are white, black, blue and splash. Does it have blue skin and an extra toe? Hope the rest of the eggs hatch. What happened with your humidity? Thanks for much for the update. Glad you got some cute ones!

Hi again! I know - time really does fly! I am amazed they are already out. I have a Brinsea R-Com 20 and all I have to do is fill the water tank. Well, I didn't realize initially how much water it was going through. I think it might have been 1 or 2 days on about 10% humidity because I forgot to refill the tank. Last time that happens, I guarantee! I felt so bad. After that, the candling wasn't as good as before. I think I had some quitters. Still, all a learning experience for me.

One of the EEs pipped early and there was a lot of blood involved around the hole and then it never made it. It was also on the small end. Not sure why. Kinda strange.

Anyway, I have the other EE eggs pipped now and waiting. They all seem normal.

Here is a pic of the silkie. Definitely blue-black skin and furry feet. I hope you can see that little swirl of reddish color on it - just behind the head and on the upper back.

This pic shows the bit of color some more I think. Maybe it is a splash? But it looks more like brownish-red splash than blue or black...

Hello again...yep, definately a silkie. I think it will be white. The coloring you see I think is just the fluff not being totally "fluffed" yet. Anything is possible, though, I guess! Bummer a/b your humidity. Also, the EE that tried to pip at the wrong end-that sometimes happens with shipped eggs. It seems they get turned around in there. I have had that happen here and had to assist them with hatching and they did OK. I think you usually have to intervene if you notice them pipping at the wrong end (I just run my fingernail around and break the shell of the egg in a circle around like the chick would if it could and I leave the inner membrane intact and let the chick break it). Anyway, let me know if that little guy winds up being white....I'm curious now.

One of the EE's just hatched out! Yay! Looks pretty much white at the moment. Probably easier to tell when it's dry.

The silkie is starting to look buff as it dries. Weird since you don't have any buff!!

Here it is a bit drier. The flash makes it look paler than it is. I guess it must be white, but it certainly has some buff look about it to me. It's sort of creamy color. But I guess white chickens start out as yellow chicks, so maybe it will be white.

Whatever the case, I love it!

Hey Claire...yep, he/she's a white. They look a little different when they are dry and fluffy. Hope everyone is doing well.
