Boy or girl - I think I know but . . .

I just wanted to add that she is GORGEOUS! I have to get me one of those....

I'm SOOO glad you all agree. It was love at first sight, but BF says "I don't see it."

It's nice to know you all see her beauty too. I love the subtle shifts of grey from one feather to the next. That's why I really want her to be a girl - I couldn't bear to have to get rid of "her" at this point if she turned out to be a he.

BTW her name is Mimzy ( . . . Mimzy Borogrove . . .) and she'd better turn out to be a TOUGH chick, because when my queen b Pickles sees her she's gonna be JEALOUS. Pickles already has a fit whenever I try to pick up any other hen, but so far it didn't matter because Pickles is my favorite girl. But now . . . well . . . I'm afraid I'm going to share the love, and Mimzy better be ready to stand up for herself once she's in the flock. She's still got two weeks of quarantine ahead of her, and I might keep her separate longer till she has more weight, because I do think there's going to be a little friction when she joins the others.

Every girl in school hates the beautiful new chick that comes to school mid-term!

I think it's always tough with ameraucanas and EEs, but at "her" age, if her comb was really really red it would be a pretty sure sign of boy. But . . . I've also heard of roos who don't "red up" until much later, which is why I'm not putting all my faith in that sign. I'm also looking at her tail feathers, and body shape, etc. What had me worried was that some of her tail feathers are much narrower than those of my other pullets. But I'm no expert, which is why
I came here to ask the pros!

I agree she is so beautiful! You said that the comb is pinkish- if it's more pink does this mean it's female? and red - male?
