Boy or girl? No clue the gender either. Suppose to be sapphire

I realize this is an old thread but I'm curious about Sapphire chickens. I know of someone who has some and I'm curious about their personalities. Anybody out there have some? The person I know who has some says hers are pretty feral as they are free range only....not in a coop like setting that I have.

Most Leghorn crosses tend to be pretty flighty birds.

As long as you have enough space, they should be fine. Just don't expect them to be very friendly. If it's just the blue eggs that you want, Easter Eggers or true Ameraucana tend to be more docile.

...or simply go with the Cream Legbar.

Cream Legbars are less flighty than Leghorn, lay beautiful blue to seafoam eggs, and have been pretty nicely tempered in the several batches I've had in a small flock situation...but they are not my calmest birds.

My Leghorn were noticeably less calm and quiet. If this breeder is noting that her line is not particularly good in confinement, I'd believe her.

She didn't say that they weren't good in confinement as she has never had them in confinement. They free range all day. But I really appreciate your help and maybe I will look into a Legbar. I have 2 EE bantams but I really like the look of the sapphires. You know how it is.....chicken math.
