Male on top, female on bottom I'd say. Looks like the top one has a bulge behind the vent.

Top one male i believe. I will try again with lighter birds, maybe it will show up better.

Much better picture of the male. You can actually see a bulge behind the vent if a hen has an egg almost ready to lay. The males bulge look like two lumps and is reddish. Hope this helps!

How old are your quail? Ours are 3.5 weeks so I wonder...I'll be out there later so I'll try it too just to see.

8 weeks and 5 days old.
I only have the three that I am unsure of.
I am going to look at my known male and a known female first to compare those 3 with.
