BR face changing from light pink to red and back

this is interesting, id b very interested in pix if you can. i honestly cant tell you why this would happen but im curious all the same.
Just went to check for eggs and she was in the coop making a lot of noise and acting like she wanted to get in the nest. She didn't and ran out so I snapped these pictures. You can see from her tail feathers to the middle of her back the reddish glow of her white feather turning to red.

I do see it! I have a BR thats prolly 6wks old and she has some color in her as well. The other chic I got from the same farm is black with a copper neck so I assumed they were just mutts.

it would less of a shock if she had the coloring as a chick. I wonder what has caused yours to change. Im interested to see if anyone else has experienced this.

She's the only BR that I have and my friends and family have always commented on how pretty she is all black and white. About a week ago my husband said he noticed her color change. I had noticed it too but didn't realize he was seeing it.
She hasn't laid an egg that we know off and I've only seen her once act interested or curious about the nest boxes.

I think it's normal. We don't have two of the same breed, but I've noticed that color change in each of them. Our barred rock seems to have more extreme changes in face/comb/wattle color, but I think it's just more noticeable on her. Color changes can be indicative of a bird's health, but also occur when a bird is hot or just excited. Lots of blood flow to those areas.

EDIT: I think the honking is also normal. Two of ours honked like geese when their voices began to change and one never stopped. We also have one who screeched at that age.

Her color change just involves her feathers. She eats and drinks and acts like all the other hens except she's bossier. Today she got in a nest (again), sang like she laid an egg but no egg.

Well, just found two eggs in the backyard. I'm wondering if one of them belongs to my BR. I had two hens get in the nest today, sing the egg song, but no eggs in the nest. It might be my fault, when I opened the outside door to the nests I scared the BR and the hen going to get into the nest.

Oops! I should have noticed your post was different, pfields. I see the difference in feather color in the photo & am not sure what causes that. We have something similar: Our silver laced wyandotte started out with white in her head & neck feathers, but now they look dirty compared to the rest of her white feathers. Chickens are very clean, so perhaps it's dirt absorbed by excess oil from the preening gland?

Don't think it's dirt, we don't have red dirt here and none of the other hens are changing feather colors. We'll just wait to see how much redder she gets. I bought five black baby chicks that were suppose to be BR and the other four turned out to be Australorp. Which is okay with me.
