Hi everyone. First flock! I’ve got 2 BR in my flock that are approx 13 wks. Not completely sure as they were given to my daughter by a friend who didn’t know exact hatch date. I’d love some input on whether or not I’ve got hens or roo.

Thanks everyone. This is what I suspected. Although I was really hoping I was wrong!! I started out with 10 “pullets”. 2 each of 5 breeds. One of my SLW is definitely a cockerel and I lost a RIR early on. So now i have 6 pullets and 3 cockerels which obviously I can’t keep all of cockerels. How do I chose?!?!

I would go by personality, they are very cute!

What lovely young men! :love So sorry to hear about your overabundance of roos....it's never fun ending up with more than you can comfortably keep. :hmm

As far as choosing which, it depends on what your intentions are. Hatching? Flock protector? An all-around nice male? :) I always keep those that are gentle on the hens, and non-aggressive towards their human handlers.
