Brabanter breed standard problem

OMG!!!!
barnie.gif

None of mine have waddles OR a comb showing!!

How is it that I get 4 out of 6 roos in the Jaehon breed, who are sexable at hatch by color, and all pullets in the Brabanters? I guess I should not complain, but how am I going to breed them without a roo?

The search is ON!!! I need to find some eggs and or chicks somewhere.
Thanks for pointing that out AW. I was wondering when I was going to start seeing some red comb action on at least one of them.

I am loading new updated from moments ago pictures now. I can't see any signs of combs or waddles on any of them. Of course one dide and I am sure that was my rooster. Ho well. Maybe this will give me a chance to find a good roo for them in a year or two and improve the breed.
I will post pictures when they are done loading.
Please let me know what you think. All hens? Any roos?
Thanks,
Shellie

So there they are. Do they look decent? Are they all hens?
(The purple is my treatment for the lack of feathers. I thought htey were getting pecked, not molting

Take your fingers and lay the feathers back, like you slick back hair, so you can see the base of the feathers. If you can see two pimple like structures, you have a male. The little pimples are the comb of the male. They will appear on the male before a female.

I may eat my words, because the new pictures look like there might be a male or two in the bunch. The males nostrils are also a little more prominet.

Maybe males
1 - two on left
2 - yes
3 - both
4 - one on right
5 - left, maybe right one
8 - one with head up

No, penciling is not good. Unlike Spitzhaubens who are supposed to have regular spangles, Brabanters have half-moon spangles.

Tim,
I didn't think about the bumps on the head ! Good idea...

I do wish Spitz and Brabanters would get shown and be recognized.

I know that the Spitz was in the US for a good while but not sure when the Brabanters came in here in the US.

They look so closely related but they are somewhat "cousins". Not sure who came first. Maybe Carla can enlighten us!
