Brace yourselves, feed prices are going to rise!!!!

And when everyone starts going to walmart for there feed the local feed store will go out of business. I don't think walmart will have a person at the counter that will help when you have a sick chick and not sure what to do. I don't think walmart will help when you need to get supplements. walmart is one big store that only cares about the bottom line.

Instead of asking for walmart to come to your rescue, use your own resources. Start looking into local mills and having them custom blend. Start asking local farmers about buying grain straight from them them grinding it yourself. The farmer will love you, more money in his pocket and it will be better and fresher than store brought stuff. Also the money stays local in your community and thats a great thing.

If you want even more local, start growing your grain. Its still early in the season, think of all the places you could grow and plant little patches all over the place.

I'll stop there. Sorry if I offend anyone.

Oh wow, I just bought food and it has gone up another $1.00 in the last month and in a year my crumbles have doubled in cost. I am not sure what our country is in for in the near future. We are cutting cost every way we can. Yesterday I purchased goat, horse and chicken feed and it increased almost 25% from last month and the guy at the feed store says lots of people are selling their livestock out....

I agree jhill. The whole economy would be better off if people chose to by local and support their own AMERICAN businesses rather than the walmarts that do nothing but filter most of the profits back to china.

Howdy Friends, I don't know what your Wally Worlds carry but mine carry local produce and local outdoor supplies, and of course, the hated stuff made in china, a country which I detest. Most of the feed we get around here comes from around here. I've heard where a certain political party has decided that it's constituents should protest Walmart every chance they get but I know at least 4 people, Americans, who work there so at least some of the money goes back into our local economies from their families.
Please, don't take what I've asked folks to do the wrong way, I am not for putting local businesses out of work but I do need to cut cost where I can, and by the way, I do grow veggies for my birds, and plant corn, peas, beans, and greens for the local deer & hog populations too. Their meats are some of the finest, leanest cuts and nothing taste quite like a good ol pig pickin, which we have here at one place or another doggone regularly. I also go to the Intercoastal waterways to harvest oysters for all the parties our friends throw who have the steamer setups but nobody's seafood shops are going out of business because of that. At least I get all the shells after it's over and break them up to feed birds with. Works out darn well I might add!
Walmart's policy of using slave made goods from communist countries irks the heck out of me and you won't find a more vocal protester on this subject! Like I said, most people I know just need to cut their cost where they can. I have about 60 chickens and 4 hungry Catahoula Leopard Dogs that must be fed and taken cared of after my wife and son.
I hear what your saying though and agree with it, to an extent.

Y'all Take Care Now and Have a Dixie Day!

Some people don't have a local Feed & Seed, so they have to rely on WalMart for their poultry feed. I live in a town of 430 people, and we don't have much in the way of businesses around here.

BTW... If I drive 30 minutes one way, I would have to pay $15.00 for a 50 lb bag of flockraiser at that town's Feed & Seed. If I drive 5 minutes the other way, I can buy the same bag at the other town's WalMart for nearly 1/3 less, and use much less gas.

I would love to save all the world's Feed & Seeds, mom and pop businesses, etc., but we are talking common sense here.

I buy all my feed from my local feed mill. I admit I could get the same amount of feed from Tractor supply for a couple bucks cheaper. But I prefer to use my money locally. I know the farmer that grew the grain, I know the owner of the feed store. It just makes me feel good to know where my money goes. But on that note, if there was a larger separation on cost, I would consider going the cheaper rate, but right now it is only a 2 dollar difference.

My feed stores are all closer than Wal-Mart - I didn't even know Wal-Mart carried Flock Raiser? Hmmmm....

My feed bill went up too - just bought 2 bags and they were over a dollar more each. I forgot my Poultry Press coupon at home - could've saved 5 bucks.
