Brahma 'Baby' 8 Months WITH feathers.UPDATE

There are not any Silkies for miles around and I have never owned one. The only recent additions to my mainly Brahma and Naked Neck mob have been some La Flèche eggs (they are now 3 week old chicks).

Maybe she knew I like Silkies...

Here's a picture of her contemporaries (plus two adult Brahma roos)

The rest have all feathered in entirely normally.

PharmGirl...I think that the 'blue' must have something to do with it.....though the rest of my 'blues' have normal feathers (Including the Blue Partridge Brahma roo in the pic.........BUT he has green eyes, so he is a bit odd, too)

Almost 2 weeks since the last pics. She has lost one wing feather from the four on her right side and the left ones haven't re-grown.

That's her in the middle

She still seems fine and is the same size as her hatch mates.

Oh she's so precious! I love the 'special needs' chickens. Maybe she's like the ugly duckling and will eventually be the most beautiful of all!

So far I have not had to do anything special for her......she seems pretty capable. The boys are trying to mate her now, though, so I think I'll have to get her a little poultry saddle as her back fluff is hardly likely to protect her from the boys' sharp claws. I'll knit her a water coat, too, as the fluff. if it doesn't get replaced, won't be very good insulation in our cold winters..

She is all Brahma, so I wouldn't expect her to lay eggs for a while yet (if she ever does). Maybe I'll incubate one to see what hatches if she does.
