Brahma breeding question???

I'm new at this - about breeding when it comes to chickens.. my question is can i breed my light brahma rooster to a buff and dark brahma hen... We received 1 rooster and 2 hens all from TSC this spring and I am fixing to separate my 8-9 week olds out into the cochin pen, oegb pen and the brahma pen.. What happens if we hatch the eggs or should we just eat their eggs and not hatch them

If I am not mistaken if you cross a Light Brahma rooster to a buff and or a dark brahma hen the offspring would be.

Males Yellow/ Golden color and Females would be a "Light" Brahama color..

First, you can cross whatever you want . . . well as far as chicken coloring goes lol!
second, to answer "what happens if we hatch the eggs?" . . . YOU GET CHICKS SILLY!!!
if you're looking for what colors you will get from this cross this is a great time to try out henks color calculator . . . it's really hard at first but it's addictive!

There is a really good chicken genetics calculator online that offers most all color varieties to play with. Its called Kippenjungle,just type it in the search. You can play for hours with crossings and how many animals it takes to get to that color and more.I figured out how to make splash laced buff brahmas or blue patterened buff columbians and more!. Very helpful for playing with varieties!

Ignore the three Black Ameraucanas. The rest are Buff Brahma roo Xed with RIR hens(my guess is the yellow chicks), BR hen (the 2 black sex-links) and EE X Dark Brahma hen (the striped chicks). All the chicks are feather legged.

I've got an older batch from mid-April. Same parents. Don't have any pics uploaded right now. Looked pretty much the same at the same age except the sex-link roos had white spots on their heads (barred now) and one yellow chick has an ear tuft. All feather legged. One of the yellow chicks I'm pretty sure is a roo is coloring in like his daddy. 2 of the yellow chicks have a more cinnamon speckled appearance.

All doing well.

I'll be getting some Cuckoo Marans for him soon and I'm hopeful for more sex-links.

Pardon me for resurrecting an old thread, but those chicken genetic calculators are really difficult. Does anyone have a simple answer to what a dark brahma roo crossed with buff & light hens would produce, colorwise?

My guess would be pullets looking mostly like lights, with maybe a little added smutt or pattern showing. Cockerels out of the light hens should look about the same. Cockerels out of the buff hens will likely look similiar with brassy coloring in the hackle and saddle feathers.
