Brahma chickens egg laying

My Brahma is 8 weeks old today and we were just curious about how many eggs she’s supposed to lay weekly. We’ve heard many different things on they’re egg laying and have heard 2-5 a week. We wanted to know from a Brahma owner! Thanks!

Depends on if she's hatchery stock or from a quality breeder. Hatchery Brahmas tend to be better producers than those that are bred to standard. Regardless, they tend to be very slow to mature. Most average about 4 eggs a week.

She is a light Brahma.

I have a hatchery stock light Brahma (pullet) and she’s laying about 3 eggs per week.

Big, slow, mellow and sweet birds.
Lousy layers (3-4 week) but eat a ton of feed.
I love their looks and demeanor,
but sold my last 2 as pets cause they were so sweet,
got a nice price for them, better than the excellent stew they would make.

Yes! Big, slow, mellow and sweet. I also love how slowly thegrow and come into lay so their bodies don’t get too worked. I want more! At least one dark Brahma. Might hold off on chicks this year, though, as the flock is gelling nicely and I might not want to disturb tbe peace.

IF...and that's a BIG IF....I ever get chickens again I will front load it with Light Brahmas. Tank was awesome - a hatchery bird who was huge, gentle, affectionate and she laid enough eggs to justify having her. The way I look at it, chickens aren't egg Pez dispensers. Not every chicken has to lay every single day - in fact, very few of them do. So by having a few different breeds or varieties, or even multiple Brahamas, you'll always get eggs from some even when the others take a day off. Bonus, there's enough good meat on them to make a darn good meal when they stop laying.
