Hello all ,
Hope all of you are doing well. Anyone of you have crossed Cochin roo with a brahmB hen?

What would be the comb look like single or pea comb?

Thanks.

Thanks.

I haven't done this but I understand the genetics.

Pea comb is dominant. Most pea comb breeds should have two copies of the pea comb gene. If you cross a pea comb bird with a single comb bird, you will get a bird with a larger pea comb

Right. Thanks a lot for your response!!

Currently I have a white cochin roo and a light Brahma hen. So the chicks would have a pea comb and most of them will be white in color or like the light Brahma feather pattern?

Thanks

Depends. I'm not sure if the Colombian patterning (black tail, wings, hackles spotting) is dominant and I'm not sure if white Cochins are dominant white, recessive white, or silver based.

Right. Rooster is totally white . Unfortunately I have lost my cochin hen . And last month my brahma rooster . He had coccidiosis. Now these two left in bantams.

I think they'd be recessive white, but I think it'd be hard to know what color is hidden under the recessive white... most likely it is black, but you never know without a test mating...

But assuming the recessive white is covering black, mating it with a light brahma would result in offspring that are all black

I made this cross with dark brahma rooster and giant black cochin hen and the chick was a rooster he is now 2 years old he looks like a giant cochin rooster but taller, has a large pea comb and has the coloring of a dark brahma rooster

Right now I have a chick that is Buff Cochin bantam roo mixed with Light Brahama. So far chick looks like it is ging to be white with black spots around neck. Has a pea comb.
