I'm not sure if my light brahma is laying yet or not. she's about 6.5 months old. I also have a silkie hen who is laying. What color are the brahma eggs? How big are they at her age right now?

thanks!!

My Lt Brahma and my Buff Brahma lay rather roundish eggs. One is a pretty light beige with a shiny finish, the Buff lays a porcelain colored egg, very golfball-like, with a matte finish. Brahmas don't lay large eggs till they are over a year old, usually, since they are a slow-maturing breed.
Here is the Lt Brahma, then the Buff Brahma's eggs, although the Buff's eggs are usually almost round:

I have both Brahmas and Silkies. The Brahma eggs are alot bigger than the Silkie eggs. My dark Brahmas lay a very light brown or Beige egg with a non shiny surface. I would show you a picture, but my hens are not laying due to molting. The Brahma eggs are usually 3 times the size of my Silkie eggs.

Thanks - she might be laying. the smaller eggs that we're getting are a light beige. I think the darker beige eggs are slightly bigger - need to really check.

At least both girls are using the nesting boxes.

My Light Brahmas lay a light brown egg similar in color to the ones shown. Mine however are more pointed and not roundish at all like the one's shown. Yep they increase in size after a year. Mine lay x-large and jumbo. The difference in egg shapes comes from different genes. My original flock came from McMurray and am very happy with their color and disposition.
