Brahma or Cochin? And what color would you call these babies? Also the one laying down has a bald bottom, is this a problem? Is there anything I can do for it or is that normal?
Most likely partridge color. Pea comb = Brahmas, Single/Straight comb = Cochins. Bald bottom is nothing to worry about to much. Some chicks just feather in slower than others. And the bottom is a common place to feather in last.
Thank you they seem to have straight combs although they were sold to me as brahmas :-( that's OK though if there is one thing we have going for us in our flock it is diversity. Cohchins and brahma are new breeds for me so we shall see how it goes.
Pea combs can often be hard to see up until they get a little bit older, thats how it is on my EE's anyways. Once they get about 4-6 weeks you can tell they are Peas.
At about 4 weeks you should be able to start to see the feathering coloring\pattern around their necks if they are indeed Brahmas. My Buff Brahmas started getting their little black ring of feathers at about that age.
